general election around the corner

well…well…march 8…our prime minister’s favourite number…and favourite month…yeah…only days away then the 12th general election will be here…all the posters and banners to lobby for voters are everywhere…candidates are making trips to various places to get to know the voters in their area…the news had been talking about whether this general election will have a great change…where opposition parties might have the chance to win and become the government?whether the opposition will win more seats this time…whether barisan nasional will retain the mandate of ruling the country…by winning the majority of two-third…well…as a first time registered voter…this is what i see…

i will be voting for the constituency of seputeh whose parliamentarian is theresa kok suh sim…the opponent this time that had been allocated to counter theresa is political newby…chew chee lin from mca…who is datuk ng yen yen’s press secretary and the youngest committee member of mca women’s group…as i can see…as theresa is a political veteran…who had been the mp for seputeh for two consecutive terms…why does mca just sent a rookie political newby to fight over theresa…doesn’t it looks like that they are expecting themselves to loose the election?i was thinking where is the logic…in my point of view…they just don’t give any hope to this constituency…at least i got this impression…whether it is correct or not…i got this impression that they are reflecting that they are not going to win…hence they are putting someone new for this constituency where no one actually know who is chew chee lin…i felt that they are just putting her there to get some publicity…without hoping that she will win the contest.,…my goodness…what are they actually thinking….haihhhh

while i am blogging here…today is the last day of year 2007 for the chinese lunar calendar…tomorrow is a big day for all chinese in the world which is to celebrate the new year’s day of the chinese lunar calendar…as what we call in mandarin ‘chu yi’…the first day of the chinese lunar calendar…the year of rat…

chinese new year is one of the biggest day for chinese in the globe to celebrate, this is where all the fortune activities take place such as praying for fortune…taking this opportunity to eat feasts…buying new apparells and shoes…cleaning the house…although i haven’t clean mine yet…yeah…etc…etc…etc..oh one important event….during the chinese new year…we can’t miss the absence of the mandarin orange…is a kind of fruit that represents the coming of chinese new year as well as the blooming fortune that will bring to people throughout the world…at this time also…the ‘feng shui’ predictions of the 12 zodiacs…prominent and popular feng shui masters will tell the predictions in accordance to life…health…fortune….career…education…etc…until this time…it is up to yourself whether to believe it…haha…anyway…wish everyone a happy chinese new year and have a properous year ahead….gong xi fatt cai

street protests

recent protests, rallies and demonstrations had been organised by several non-governmental bodies…they are urging for a change?revolution?new government?this is what i think about all these protests are about

talking about protests…we had the first one at merdeka square organised by bersih who protests for clean and clear elections…and then we have hindraf who protests to fight for the rights for indian people…alleging that the british government had intimidated the indians back from the years before independence…and then we have another protest organised again by the same society that is hindraf…which had alleged that the government had not given equal treatment to the indian people…not forgetting the bar council’s walk for justice…and the most recent demonstration…was organised by lawyers and ngos…marching peacefully from the sogo shopping complex until the bar council building…heading by human rights lawyer…latheefa koya and amer hamzah….why do all these sudden protests just poped out?because of election is getting near?because the country really needs a revolution?a new government?i don’t know…but there is one thing that we can see…excessive force had been used to hamper the people of all these groups…take for example the hindraf’s action on submitting the memorandum to the british high commissioner…those people were unarmed and what does the police force give them?just a few thousand of people or i can say not even up to 3 thousand of people…the police force were using stuff like water cannon and tear gas…while bersih’s rally where the total of people is amounting to almost million of people…and yet only water cannon was being used…while few thousand of hindraf supporters was being treated by tear gas and water cannon…not forgetting the current crackdown of police in front of the bar council…as there are banners were putting on the building itself on promoting the events that the bar council is holding…the police demanded that the banners were to be removed immediately…if not…action will be taken…to me…this incident just doesn’t make sense…what is the problem for bar council to hang the banner up on their own building?for promoting purposes?is it a crime?i just don’t get it…the bar council didn’t put their banners everywhere or other buildings that are not belong to them…to me…this scenario give me the impression that the police force is trying to be mischevious…or a harsher word…bitchy…as all these rallies…assemblies that are ongoing now…it is really unhealthy to our country and it will affect the country’s economy badly…so…the government please take the initiative to probe what is really going on…what had made these people dissatisfied….

oh my goodness…just because that a coalition had called upon the slogan of ‘clear and clean’ election…it had made the government feel threatened because the coalition namedly bersih had vowed to attract a 100 thousand strong of people from the public to support the rally…by dressing in yellow t-shirt…as i was walking to work this morning…around 9am because i started work at 10am from masjid jamek…i already saw a few of the police cars and FRU troops and rela members already surrounding places near to merdeka square…and members from the public were already waiting at the masjid jamek lrt station…as early as 9am and the protest will be started only at 3pm…not to surprise that those who attended the rally majority of them are malay…

to me…is there really a need for the government to react in such a way towarss this demonstration…seems to like they are going to harm people and kill innocent people…i just don’t understand….as the police refused to issue a permit for them because it was claimed to be illegal to have gathering like this…also to warn the public that whoever turned up at the protest,,,,they will be arrested because this is an illegal activity…seriously…what is a big deal…they are just marching towards the palace…they were unarmed…are they really that frightening?to me.,..i don’t think so…do the government need to react like this…to me…they just wasted their energy…

new shopping mall in town

another luxurious shopping mall had officially opened for the upper and middle class income people…another new place for people to hang out and to walk around…KL Pavillion..a recently opened shopping mall located at the bukit bintang area..the exact location will be opposite starhill and beside JW Marriot…the mall emphasise on selling luxurious brands like clinique, estee lauder, chanel…for perfumes…while for fashion..they have Prada, G2000, Giordano and also some other accessories…well..it might be another shopping paradise for people…but what i thinks is…

opening this kind of shopping mall which sells mostly luxurious brands…i think it is not benefiting anyone except for shop owners…or even not really benefiting…because not many people can afford to spend a large amount of money to spend on buying these brands…while for those people who got the money to spend…but not likely they will purchase these goods…am i telling the truth?this is what i observe..people who have middle income is more likely to spend on better quality stuffs..while not the rich..i am not saying all the rich are not willing to spend…but most of them are…hence..i think having all the luxurious brands under one roof…is not really advisable..in my point of view..because people who go there will most probably doing window shopping…once and for all…or probably for those who know this pavillion solely selling luxurious brands might not even visit the mall…is it a good thing or bad thing to have this mall?haha..you tell me…

a walk for justice

although i am not on the beat with my fellow collgues of journalists…but i do support the ‘walk of justice’ that was carried out by a whopping number of lawyers…leading by ambiga..the bar council president together with tonnes of lawyers with her…the walk was initiated due to the release of the controversial ligam tape…where it had talked about how the top positions in the judiciary board were arranged using the power of the government…if this happened..what we have studied about the malaysia’s legal system about the seperation of powers is totally a nonsense?since this is not really what had happened all these years?

the purpose of the ‘walk of justice’ is to urge the prime minister to set up a royal commission to investigate this judicial scandal…hate to use this word…but this is how it should be put…as ambiga said…when lawyers walked..there is something is wrong…seriously…i feel quite bad for the country and also quite bad for myself..for not being there to report about the protest and to be there for support…i am proud with my fellow ex-collegues who were there to report about the incident and have a good understanding about the meaning of the walk…besides, from what i have read from other blogs who talked about this rally…surprisingly…the public was also there to support the lawyers…although they are not in a great number but at least they are some people who realised the importance of restoring the trust on the judiciary board…this isn’t just about the prestige of the lawyers but also the faith of the public who will need the access of the judiciary to help them on gaining back what they are supposed to get…in the eyes of justice…so..kudos to lawyers who have initiated this movement and let’s hope for the best of the country

nurin’s case

let’s have a minute of silence for eight-year-old nurin who found dead last week…who was tortured, raped and murdered…although i am a non-malay…but i felt pityful for her family though…i felt that it is very disappointed towards the government for letting thiss happened to the young child…

nurin was abducted according to media reports when she was going to the night market to buy her favourite hair clips and accessories…and that day itself she is missing…and when she was found…she is already dead…and what month is this?it is supposed to be a holy month…and malay should be having their ramadhan month where they get this chance to clear their sins…but what happened now…nurin can’t even make it to fulfill her ramadhan duties and then she was dead…i really sympathise the parents and her classmates who love her so much…the worst part now…is that the parents will be charged for their negligence for not taking good care of their daughter…i was wondering…who is the one who is supposed to be blamed…the country?the police force?the government?i am really doubted in this…will the murderer soon be prevailed?is the government taking serious consideration to the lesson of this case?what i can say now is parents please beware of your children’s whereabouts…and children…please be more alert about what is the situation out there….the world is no longer safe…

moocake festival

although it is not a big festival where all malaysians will celebrate together…but indeed this is a very meaning festival for the chinese…moocake festival also known as the mid-autumn festival…there is a beautiful story as well as a sad story behind this festival…if you don’t mind to be bored…do feel free to continue reading it..

well…the sad story begin like this…there is a beautiful maiden who used to be caring and loving and she had a caring and loving husband too…but until one day…the sky suddenly appeared to have 9 suns together and her husband had taken the responsiblity to shoot them down one by one…and after he had shoot down all of them except for one son…he became proud and disrespecful because people had honoured him well..and his loving and caring wife was disappointed over his attitude change…and one day…a villager honoured him with a kind of medicine that can help to become immortal…the husband then took it and hide the medicine…thinking of having it for himself…who knows the medicine was later found out by the beautiful maiden who is the wife…and after she ate it..her body was light like a feather…and she is flying towards the sky…leaving the remorseful husband who had been proud and selfish…well..here is the beautilful story starts…the beautiful maiden then fly to the sky and up to the moon..she become the guardian of the moon and also the fairy…she is there to make the moon will always bright during the mooncake festival..hehe…so…hope you guys like these stories…

50th year of merdeka in malaysia

this is supposed to be a happy occasion and event…but since the government..somehow i felt that it is like some kind of force..because the ministry ‘encouraged’ companies to hang the national flag over their building starting from the beginning of august..and those who did not hang the flags and were ’spotted’ did not hang the flag will be seen as disloyal to the country…seriously…when i see the news of this..i wonder…if the ministry really want the companies to hang the national flag..why don’t the government do something worthiness about it and let the companies volunteerily and willingly to hang the flags on their buildings…isn’t that is more effective than giving out such kind of ‘message’..

recently…there is also an incident happened where this young guy was said to have composed a song that had discouraged national unity..saying that he is disrespecful towards the national anthem…just because he modified it..although not full song of the national anthem but it is enough to get him into a serious fault and trouble…and now the government want to take action against him…why is this occuring?is it because of the 50th year merdeka and it is good to teach a lesson to this guy in order to warn the people…it is really upset seeing this kind of incidents are happening for the 50th year merdeka of malaysia…aren’t it should be celebrated merrily?i wonder….

malaysia’s mega sale carnival is now beginning around all the shopping malls in malaysia…of course the hottest place to shop must be in kuala lumpur…because this is where shopping malls are satuated…apart from jalan bukit bintang…not forgetting places like suria klcc…mid valley megamall…wan utama and the curve…these are the shopping paradise that most people will visit

up to 70 percent of discount will be awarded to customers…no matter what kind of stuffs you are interested in…clothes…kitchen equipments…luxuries…bed sheets and everything that you wished to purchase…some big departmental stores like Isetan…Metrojaya..parkson…jayajusco…they even have their own membership card for those customers who are their members and can enjoy more discounts during the mega sale carnival…so…guys who wished to shop crazily..this is the time where everywhere is your shopping paradise..be a shopaholic too…hahaha!!!!!
