By now, the worst fears of a couple have come true – the body of a young girl found stuffed in a gym bag some days back is indeed of their daughter, Nurin Jazlin Jazimin.

Has the civic consciousness and morality our society degraded to such an extent that more and more inhuman and cruel acts are being perpetrated? How could any person claiming to be human do something like this?

For Nurin, Walski’s heart and prayers go out to you, poor girl. Your time on this Earth was so cruelly taken away by persons whom Walski now totally disowns as being members of the human race. To say that what was done to Nurin was akin to animal-like behavior, is an insult to animals. Those responsible for her death are worse than any beast. Walski finds it hard to even find the words to describe the kind of person who could bring themselves to doing such a despicable and dastardly deed, without regressing to profanity.

May God bless her soul… and may the monsters who did this live the rest of their miserable lives consumed in guilt and torment… tearing their souls bit by painful bit…

It is really amazing how the mind of some people work. Consider this snippet of nonsense:

Malaysian youth “would be exposed to moral decay if we continue to allow such concerts to be held in Malaysia.”
(from Malaysiakini)

This pearl of “wisdom” comes from the Muslim Students Union… whose wish is for the upcoming Gwen Stefani, scheduled for August 21.

Yeah, let’s ban everything we don’t like, why don’t we?

It’s a known fact that not many international come to Malaysia – Walski suspects that they AVOID performing here, truth be told. Why? Because of the numerous restrictions that get put on the acts, that’s why. There’ll always be some organization or other that wants to prevent music acts (whom they don’t like) from performing here.

The latest “protest” comes not long after the Muslim Consumer Association (PPIM) wanted the government to ban Evan Almighty – presumably because they are afraid Muslims would start to worship Morgan Freeman.

So far, the Gwen Stefani concert organizer Maxis Communications is standing firm, stating that they have briefed the artiste on what can and cannot be done on stage. I suppose commercially popular artistes are more accommodating when it comes to bureaucratic crap like what we have here in Malaysia

If it were up to Walski, he’d have said, “Thanks, but no thanks”. And not in those words, either

Music is a convenient target to blame for moral decay, and Malaysia is not unique in this regard. Well, all I can say is that, if you don’t like Gwen Stefani, don’t go to the concert – plain and simple.

Don’t impose your narrow world view on people who’d actually enjoy the concert.

For the record, I’m not a fan of Gwen Stefani – nothing against her or anything – but commercial pop is not exactly my favorite cuppa when it comes to music.

You know, it would be nice if KL were on the regular music tour route… but as long as we have these serial banners on the loose, you know that it ain’t gonna happen anytime soon…

At long last, finally an entry from yours truly to kick off Walski’s venture into KL MetroBlogging… with apologies to the rest of the KL MetroBlogging crew!

Well, what can I say… as August 31 approaches, we are indeed living in interesting times. The big hoo-harr about blogs and blogging that we’ve been hearing about of late has gotten me thinking – what gives? Why the sudden heightened paranoia about citizens having an unrestricted voice?

Well, a few things come to mind… but most of all, what Walski sees as the real implication of blogs and blogging, in view that a General Election may not be too far away…

There has been a lot of speculation and talk that come the 2008 US Presidential Elections, the major fight for votes and political mindshare is going to be in the virtual cyber world. But if the timing is right, expect something similar to happen here in Malaysia, partiuclarly in the urban areas – KL in particular – where access to the internet in probably higher than anywhere else in the nation.

I know that this is probably giving the politicos from the ruling party more credit than they deserve – but is this what they are really worried about?

What do you think?

This first post, as they say, is the beginning of a beautiful new friendship – hopefully… and don’t worry… it won’t all be about politics. There’s a lot more to life than that.

So, Hello Metblogs.. Walski (finally) reporting for duty!!

PEACE!
