wesak day in KL

wesak day was widely celebrated in kuala lumpur especially around brickfields which is located at jalan tun sambathan where it was also known as the indian city..

sorry for not taking the pictures because i did not bring a camera with me but honestly the streets were busy and hot…people were busying buying flowers and josssticks which were to use to worship the enlightened one, the buddha…tell you what..due to this celerbation, the streets outside the temple were filled with assortic kind of stalls which had made it to become like pasar malam (night market)..apart from worshipping flowers, the devotees get the chance to see different kind of buddha statutes from sri lanka and most importantly, they get to see the relics of the buddha..besides worshipping with flowers and lighting jossticks, there were also dedication of oil lamps to the departed ones..myself had lighted one for my grandma who past away 2 years ago..but there were also dedication of lights for your own family of safety, prosperity and harmony…yeah…before forgetting…another very significant activity that carried the real meaning of wesak that is the procession which was held in conjunction of wesak day, during the procession, there were parade of flowery cars and people will follow the parade and walked until a certain distance and then return to the temple, the meaning of the procession is to bless the people who walked together with the buddha during its year of birth and it is to be treated as a kind of blessing..hence…most of the people usually followed this once a year procession to get blessing for themselves and family..once again would like to apologise because no pictures were taken…

No worries. Your post is far better than any picture I had in my mind about the celebration.

Had wanted to go but the crowd threw me off the area.
